Per Bloomberg, Universal Parks & Resorts(UPR) is planning two all-new regional concepts. Announced today(01/22/23), Plans on opening an all-new family-themed park in Frisco, Texas. Universal aims for the resort to be a family-focused resort created specifically for younger kids. Universal acquired 97 acres of land in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, Texas, for this project. The project is supposed to include rides, shows and a hotel, as well as character meet and greets with Universal and DreamWorks characters like Minions and Shrek. "The property is to have a different look and feel than Universal's existing parks in Orlando and Hollywood. According to KDAF CW33, Universal stated, :Frisco was picked due to the city’s growing population and ability to attract businesses to the area, and the proposed location will be placed east of the Dallas North Tollway and north of Panther Creek Parkway.” ![]() Also announced were plans for a year-round, horror-focused destination in Las Vegas. Universal will be an anchor tenant in a 20-acre expansion of Area 15, at 110,000 square feet. Area 15 is an entertainment district that opened in Las Vegas in 2020.
