Ultimate Guide to Horror Nights: Part One

You've mustered up the courage to go to Halloween Horror Nights. Universal offers five different types of tickets for Halloween Horror Nights.  This article will explain each pass, what you need to know before buying them, Stay and Scream, Scream Early, and the most crucial question: How much are tickets?

Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event. No rainchecks returns, or refunds. Prices, dates, and experiences are subject to availability, changes, and/or cancellation without notice. Additionally, parks/attractions/entertainment may close or be unavailable due to capacity, and benefits are subject to change without notice. 

Halloween Horror Nights Tickets 2022

If you are new to the horror scene, a Single Night Ticket may be your best option. The Single Night Ticket includes one(1) admission for one(1) person. When purchasing a single-night ticket online, you must choose the day you will experience the horror. If you have not done it before checking out, you have missed a step. Empty your cart and try again. Single Night Tickets can be upgraded to Multi-Night Passes. We'll talk about those later. Pricing for Single Night Tickets ranges from $71 to $105 based on the day. The first pass is the Rush of Fear pass. This pass entitles guests to visit for  17 event nights. This pass includes one(1) admission for one(1) person on September 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. ​This pass can be upgraded to a Rush of Fear Pass with Express. If you think you may go more nights in October, you should consider upgrading to a Frequent Fear Pass. According to Universal, "The Rush of Fear pass may be upgraded to an Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass only, on or before September 25, 2022". To be clear, that means the Rush of Fear pass cannot be upgraded to a Frequent Fear Pass or Frequent Fear Plus pass. The Rush of Fear pass can only be upgraded to Ultimate Frequent Fear. It can also be upgraded to include one-time Express per night, per house, for each valid ticket holder. This pass starts at $129.99. 

The Frequent Fear Pass entitles one (1) guest admission to all of the following 2022 Halloween Horror Nights event nights: September 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11, 15, 18, 21, 22, 25, 28, 29 October 2, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 16, 19, 20, 23, 26, 27, 30, 31.  This pass can be upgraded to Frequent Fear Plus or Ultimate Frequent Fear pass. It can also be upgraded to include one-time Express per night, per house, for each valid ticket holder. This pass starts at $179.99.

The Frequent Fear Plus Pass entitles one (1) guest admission to all of the following 2022 Halloween Horror Nights event nights: September 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 16, 18, 21, 22, 23, 25, 28, 29, 30 October 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16, 19, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31. This pass can be upgraded to an Ultimate Frequent Fear pass. It can also be upgraded to include one-time Express per night, per house, for each valid ticket holder. This pass starts at $219.19

The Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass entitles one (1) guest admission to ALL 2022 Halloween Horror Nights event nights. In addition, this pass includes free Regular Parking after 5 pm at the Universal Orlando garage on valid Halloween Horror Nights event nights only; it excludes parking at any Universal Orlando hotel. It can also be upgraded to include one-time Express per night, per house, for each valid ticket holder. This pass starts at $324.99

2022 Scream Early 
Lastly, we'll mention a pass that will get you into the park early so you can get a few rides in before you head to your stay and scream location. Suppose you already have a day ticket to Universal Studios Florida or an annual pass. In that case, this pass is not for you. This ticket is called the Scream Early Ticket. The Scream Early Ticket allows you to enter Universal Studios Florida at 3 pm to enjoy some thrills. You then will head to your stay and scream location before 5 pm(you should arrive at least ten minutes before the park closes). This ticket does not include admission into Halloween Horror Nights. The Early Scream ticket cost $35.00.

2022 Stay and Scream
Enjoy a Scream before everyone else with Stay and Scream. Guests with a valid Scream Early Ticket or another park admission can enter a Stay and Scream location. There are five Stay and Scream locations, Sound Stage 18, New York, Hollywood, Richter's Burger Co, and Central Park. At 5 pm, all Guests must be in their Stay and Scream area, or they could be caught in the park sweep and have to exit the park and wait at the entrance gates. Then, depending on your Stay and Scream Area, Guests can grab a bit of food or sit back and relax until the lines of the respective house in your Stay and Scream area open. Utilizing Stay and Scream Allows but does not guarantee you to enjoy the houses before everyone outside of the park enters. ​

Halloween Horror Nights Single Night Express 

The last ticket we have left is the Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass. Halloween Horror Nights Express Passes are valid for one (1) time use per haunted house and participating rides and attractions, per valid ticket holder. When purchasing a Halloween Horror Nights Express Pass online, you must choose the day you will experience the horror. You have missed a step if you have not done it before checking out. Empty your cart and try again.Universal Express passes, including Premier Hotel Universal Express Unlimited, Premier Passholder After 4 pm Express, used during regular theme park hours, are not valid for this separately ticketed event. Express pricing starts at $109 and reaches up to $180. This ticket does not include admission into Halloween Horror Nights.

HHN Cabana Bay Experience

If you want something spooky besides the terror within Universal Studios Florida theme park, resort guests can experience a special attraction at Cabana Bay Beach Resort. ​​Starting  Sept 2nd through Oct 31st, guests can keep the screams going beyond Halloween Horror Nights at a Universal Monsters-themed photo gallery experience. This experience is exclusive to Universal Orlando hotel guests. Also available will be the Spooky Swizzle Lounge at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Here guests can have a glass of liquid courage before they enjoy some terrifying thrills. If you're staying at a Universal hotel, you get a dedicated entrance into Halloween Horror Nights. Look for signage outside the gates to direct you to the correct entrance.

Frequent Asked Questions

When does Halloween Horror Nights start?
Officially Halloween Horror Nights open to event guests at 6:30 pm but can sometimes open up as early as 6:00.

When does Halloween Horror Nights end?
Halloween Horror Nights will close at 1 am, or 2 am, depending on the day. Check the Offical Universal app or website for correct event hours. 

Are rides still open during Halloween Horror Nights?
Select rides are open during the event, including Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack, and more. Since there is so much to do at HHN, the wait times are typically short. Make sure to check the Official Universal Orlando Resort Mobile App for ride times. However, keep in mind that these are subject to change without notice.

Can I wear a costume to Halloween Horror Nights?
NO! Don't Do it. You will get sent back by Security to your car to change into regular clothing. This also goes for Horror themed make-up. Use the general rule that if you look like a scareactor, its not allowed.
