As the sun sets at Universal Orlando Resort, Halloween Horror Nights takes over Universal Studios Florida making your worse nightmares come true. This year features haunted houses based on The Haunting of Hill House, slasher film "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” Universal Pictures’ horror legend, “The Bride of Frankenstein,” notorious Halloween Horror Nights icon Jack the Clown, Beetlejuice, and more. Yet, the ten haunted houses and five scare zones are not the only things to give you a fright at this years event. Xavier and team have spent a large amount of time waiting in the long food lines to tell you about this year's hits. We hope this will keep you from buying any frightful treats. Here are our top three items we ate last week. Twisted Taters are an Halloween Horror Nights staple. Believe it or not, there are crazy people, like Xavier, that come to the event just for the food. Twisted taters are one of those food items people love. A twisted tater is a spiral cut potato that is been placed on a skewer, flash fried, then seasoned with one of four flavors. Twisted Taters have evolved over the past couple of years. They now offer twisted taters that are wrapped around a foot long hotdog and/or covered in chili and queso. If your looking to get yourself a twisted tater you can find this item in front of Animal Actors on Location theater. In front of the exit to Fast and Furious: Supercharged, you will find a food truck that offers what Xavier has dubbed a Pub Sub. If you've never had a Pub Sub, they are a sub sandwich offered at a grocery chain in Florida called Publix. Universal's version of these sandwiches are available with hand breaded chicken tenders. These sandwiches are offered in three different iterations, Buffalo, BBQ, and Banh-Mi(Thai Chili). These sandwiches are a nice size very filling and are a great option if your looking for some grab and go food as your walking to your next house location. Keep in mind that these can get messy if your bread splits, so get extra napkins. Last, but definitely not least, is the Jack and Chance Cake in similar jars to those offered commonly at the Tribute Store next to The Mummy. These are offered in two different varieties, red velvet cake and chocolate. They are very picture-worthy and you can take the jars home as a souvenir. When you get them home, be careful not to run them through your dishwasher since these jars are hand wash only. Unless you enjoy these items as much as our team member Keri, you might want to find your Jack to your Chance for sharing because these cakes can be very rich. That is our top three for now. Join us soon as we make our way around Halloween Horror Nights to bring to you three more great options that we found during this years event. Remember to have fun and never go alone.
